Ready to take your diving to the next level?
This course can be taken after completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification. It's titled PADI Advanced Open Water Diver because it advances your diving knowledge & skills.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver eLearning is designed to improve your underwater knowledge and skills. You can enroll immediately after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification regardless of your skill level. The course helps you build confidence in navigation, fine-tune buoyancy skills and introduces you to different diving activities such as wreck diving, night diving or underwater imaging. After completing your eLearning, you'll make five Adventure Dives: a deep dive (beyond 18m/60F), a navigation dive, and three additional Adventure Dives of your choice to earn your certification.
At Dive Zone Bay of Islands we describe the Advanced course as a 'Tasting platter for specialties'.
We complete 5x Dives over 2x days to complete your Advanced course and the best part is that these dives can eventually count towards your speciality certifications as well!
The 5x Adventure Dives we complete are: The two required dives - Deep and Underwater Navigation - Then we also complete, Peak performance bouyancy and Wreck Diving - Which we complete on the incredible Canterbury Wreck out at Deep Water Cove. The final dive is a customer choice, we offer Night, Fish identification and Search and Recovery.
During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time. This is to a max depth of 30m. .
Before the course: You complete 6-8 hours of online learning to understand the principles of each adventure dive. This is issued to you upon sign up and then you can complete the dive theory in your own time.
During the course: Each day we meet here at the Dive Shop (5 Klinac Lane, Waipapa) at 8.30am to get organised for the days diving. We will spend the first day at Matauri Bay completing 3x of our adventure dives. Then the 2nd day out on the boat at Deep Water Cove completing our Wreck and Deep Dives.
