" I would highly recommend doing your PADI open water course with Dive Zone in Waipapa, 10 out of 10. I’ve been diving for years and years and the only reason I done it was because of my son’s birthday, we done it together , I learnt a heap of knew knowledge myself and had an amazing time. My son absolutely loved it as well. The team at dive zone were friendly, polite and very helpful..."
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases: Theory, Pool diving & Ocean diving.
Before the course: You complete 8-10 hours of online learning to understand basic principles of scuba diving. This is issued to you upon sign up and then you can complete the dive theory in your own time.
During the course: Each day we meet here at the Dive Shop (5 Klinac Lane, Waipapa) at 8.30am to get organised for the days diving. We will spend the first 2x days in the Pool completing our Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills. We use local pools such as Kawakawa and Kerikeri High School Pools.
The final 2 day we spend out in the ocean completing our Open Water Dives. Here we use your skills you have just learnt in the pool and explore! We complete 1x day of Shore diving at Matauri Bay and 1x day of Boat diving at Deep Water Cove.
