There are lots of reasons why wrecks are popular to dive on. Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as a result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows into the past. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mysetery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.

Dive Zone Bay of Islands knows the Canterbury Wreck inside and out due to the amount we dive this incredible dive site!
Before the course: You complete 2-4 hours of online learning to understand basic principles of wreck diving. This is issued to you upon sign up and then you can complete the dive theory in your own time.
During the course: With your instructor you will complete 4x wreck dives over 2 days. You'll survey and map a wreck, practice special finning techniques and use penetration lines. We dive both the Canterbury wreck and the Rainbow Warrior wreck.

The previous owner of DZBOI was on the committee that helped scuttle the Canterbury wreck so we are lucky enough to have some special artifacts from the ship in store that our wreck divers get to see!
