Matauri Bay is one of the best local shore diving spots in Northland. We are lucky to be the only dive centre in Northland that has exclusive access to it through an agreement with the local businesses and because as we are strictly no-take from the area.
This site is world class with an amazing reef structure that heads out around the point. We will see loads of fish such as snapper, schooling koheru, sandaggers wrasse, moray eels, nudies and eagle rays. We will complete 2x dives here with a nice lunch break in the sunshine. The water temperature ranges from 16c in the winter to a lovely 24c in the summer time. You will need to bring your togs, towel, lunch and a jacket.
Trip Details
On the day of the dive trip we meet at Dive Zone Bay of Islands at 8am. We spend about 30mins completing the necessary pre-dive registration & arranging any rental gear requirements that you may have. If you are bringing your own gear, we will complete a check of the gear to ensure it is up to standard.
From here we have complimentary transport from Dive Zone to the Dive site which takes around 30mins. We usually return to the shop and clean gear finishing up around 4pm.
Please bring with you Lunch, water, togs & towels, cameras and sunscreen and any gear you might want to use.

If you are using your own gear it is subject to our safety checks. We reserve the right to refuse use of any equipment that does not meet our inspection standards in the interest of your safety.
IMPORTANT: Bookings are essential for all trips, & full payment is required to secure your booking. Please note that payments are only refundable if the trip is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
Before booking please review the PADI medical questionnaire. Answer the medical questions honestly for your safety and ours. If all answers are No you are fit to dive, if you answer Yes to any of the questions, you will need sign off by a Doctor.
